Desiplanet are another focused site, this time for South Asians (basically that means people from India I think).  Desiplanet have the usual things like picture albums, profiles, messaging, chat, message boards, events.

At Desiplanet you will find a picture rating site -- which strangely is on desi-planet.com (rather than desiplanet.net) -- however when I tried it it didn't seem to be working.  Anyway a general purpose hot-or-not type script I think.

It seems desiplanet have been around since August of 2002 but I don't think they have grown very large.

There is no way to search the personals from the main site of desiplanet without signing up first.   And it's a "free 60 day membership", which implies they are going to charge you on day 61!

So despite the desiplanet tag line of "the best place to meet South Asians" I really didn't find it very appealing.
