At last someone has thought of a new take on online dating - at reciprodate you do not have to fill in length psychological profiles and the like or extensive questionnaires.  Instead they are doing matching based upon your rating of other people's profiles.

Behind the scenes I'm sure this is similar to how sites like Amazon.com make recommendation -- basically if other people similar to you like a particular book, then you are likely to as well.  And they can tell what kind of person you are (in terms of books at least) by considering you similar to other people who like the same kind of books you do.

So take this concept and apply to to personal ads.  Of course we are talking online ads and not real life experiences here so what it is really doing is matching you up with profiles/ads that you are going to like based on ones you say you like or dislike.

To make this sort of thing work lots of people have to participate, and I think they have reached critical mass now to make it work.
