The idea behind GetInLove.com is to deal with the basic problem with internet dating -- nobody knows you are a dog on the internet!  You remember that old cartoon?  Anyway the problem is still here.

What they have done is create a proprietary certification system which they call "DateVerify" with the idea of being able to verify the accuracy of the information submitted by members.

They are very up front about the problems that internet dating has with anonymity making it too too easy and too tempting for people to claim to be someone they are not.

According to their stats more than one-fifth of all men seeking dates online are married and more than half of the 40 million singles using these sites each month lie about themselves in some way -- especially when it comes to hair (men) or weight (women).

Not surpriising I guess - and in a sense not unlike real life -- I mean can you say hair-weave or corset?  Oops, I mean "control pantyhose" which is the new replacement for that one!

Anyway at getinlove.com they are quite happy to talk to you about these issues because of course they feel they have the solutin.  A way you can be assured of the authenticity of the certified members because they verify and certify the information using a combination of manual verification and accessing the database of public and private networks worldwide.

All sounds a bit big-brother to me but then on the other hand it can be protection for yourself too.  Of course they don't give all that much detail about how they do this so it is hard to tell if it works or not, but at least they are trying which is more than can be said for most dating sites that really don't make much of an effort if any.

Of course given the effort this takes they only do certification of paid members, so if you want that certified stamp beside your listing then you're going to have to join up.

However for free you can join to browse to see exactly what sort of people do get certified, and have some confidence they are who they say they are!
